LOL, Anthro attempt #1.

Aaaand this is why I don't do anthros. XD;; I remember now! Time to go study human anatomy lmao.

Not a horrible first attempt.. but not fabulous either. Crits are more than welcome, so if you guys see something wicked off please feel free to say something! < 3

This is Feuer, for :icontivadu:.

EDIT: Thanks for the feedback guys!! The moral of the story is... Anatomy! Anatomy! Anatomy! I'll be grabbing reference for the next one instead of eyeballing it~ it didn't do me any favors this time around. :D

I think he looks great especially for your first attempt in a long time. He is a really handsome dude as well, I hope you open some anthro commissions on FA because I would jump at a chance. You can only get better and better. His expression is fantastic!

Pffft, this is your FIRST attempt? Then you're obviously a prodigy. Yes, the limbs seem a little short... but it's far better than anything I could make. -w-b

It's actually a realy good first attempt!
Only thing that seems to stand out to me is his arms seem a bit tiny (length) for his body xD Which it's the arms that seem to make the rest of the image seem off. (At least to me that is. I know some people mentioned the head was too big but I think that's a result of the arms.)

Haha thank you! Lots of room for improvement, I dont even remember how to draw people anymore ahaha!

Hmmm.. tempted to flatten it and extend the arms and the torso a bit to see if that helps. o: so much to work onnn, thanks for replying!! < 3

What. It looks really good!
I mean I havent drawn an anthro yet but seeing them on FA, I noticed that his body seems to be compressed. His arms should be a little longer and maybe his body in general. Maybe its also because he's supposed to be slumped over a bit.
Other than that, I like the muscle definition as well as the expression! And those hands and feet are amazing too!
Practice makes perfect hehe!

the right leg is quite short compared to his left leg.
likewise, his right arm is shorter compared to his left.
also his head is just a tad too big.
a pretty good first attempt!
you just gotta get a feel for the length of the limbs is all.

Thank you for the breakdown, it's incredibly helpful!! :D. I'll keep a closer eye on limb lengths next time around.

Thinking going and warming up with 20 second speed sketchs from pose maniac or something would help, I have't drawn anything human in months. @___@ whoops!

Thanks again! :D

no problem!
i think it's the pose that threw you off a bit.
you sort of conformed the anatomy of the right arm so that it would lean nicely on the right leg. human anatomy is tricky because there are a lot of different parts that can bend at certain angles which animals don't have @ x @
but you just sort of have to play with the angle of the leg so that the arm can be on it without looking squished. xD
just try and picture the lengths of the arms and legs in your head - the arms should reach just past the hip and the legs should be the height of the entire body.
hope this helps a bit ( :
good luck~

Anthro anatomy is very similar to a human on their tiptoes

So walking around on your tiptoes for a while will actually help get a feel for it X3

Oooo good idea, thank you! :D think I need to go warm up with 20 second speed drawings, so unfamiliar with drawing humanoids.. I'm sure that's not helping! < 3

I think the thing that stands out most to me is the limbs are too short. But a great start I think!

Both arms and legs, or just one or the other? Thank you!

Next time I'll go grab some reference instead of trying to eyeball things too much. < 3

All around. If I sit on the floor and put my elbow on my knee like that, my upper arm would be almost parallel to the ground. I do have a short torso, but I think in this pose the knee would come somewhere around the armpit, and not the bottom of the pecs. Similarly, the upper arm would have to be longer to meet the knee at that angle.

I know, it's so exciting when you can make do without reference! But if you've got a specific problem, it definitely helps! X3 I'm sure most folk know about *SenshiStock, but it's a great place for all your crazy pose needs, and a good place to see anatomy in action.
